The 2016/17 AGM was held in Room 7 in the Teachers’ Club on Thursday 13 October and was attended by about 25 members.
Officer Reports
Reports from the Secretary, Treasurer and Artistic Committee were read and passed.
Election of committee
All members of the 2015/6 committee were re-elected and will be joined in the coming year by Brigid Sweeney, Roisin Mee and Emily Maher.
Election of President
As Paul Maher has completed three years as President, and election was required to replace him. Unfortunately there were no candidates, so Paul agreed to remain in an acting capacity but requested that the meeting empower the incoming committee be appoint a suitable candidate, should one emerge over the course of the year.
Rehearsed Readings
Louis announced that the next series of rehearsed readings will be ‘Director’s Choice Comedies’ and appealed for applications from the membership.
Major Productions
Geraldine Maguire will direct ‘By the Bog of Cats’ in the May/June 2017 and the committee are still pursuing a director for a major Shakespeare production in the Spring.
Presidential Address
Paul in his President’s address commended the society on an extremely productive and rewarding year’s work.
Entertainment
Val O’ Donnell and Sean O’Earcahin entertained the meeting with songs by JL Molloy and the evening was rounded off with refreshments in the bar.
